What are Motion Graphic Templates (.mogrt files)?

Motion Graphics Templates are a file type (.mogrt) that can be created in After Effects or Premiere Pro, according to Adobe.

MOGRTS are used to create animations and effects for videos. This allows the motion designer to create an entire motion graphics sequence and export it as a single file that can be updated or edited with little effort. These templates can be used as they are or with minor tweaks.

Once exported as a Motion Graphics Template (.mogrt), titles and other animated text elements can also be created in Premiere Pro and exported as a Motion Graphics template for future reuse or sharing.

The best thing about MOGRT files is that they can be used by anyone with basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro. If you’re new to motion graphics, this is an excellent way to get started without having to learn all of the technical details first.

How to install .mogrt files in Adobe Premiere Pro CC?

There are two ways on how to easily install .mogrt files into Adobe Premiere Pro – by batch or individual files. You may watch the video tutorial below or follow the step-by-step process for more details.

Step 1: Download and Unzip the Free Kidigital MOGRT Pack 1

Download the 25 Free Kidigital Motion Graphics Templates from the link above. Once downloaded, unzip the folder using 7-zip or other similar software. Inspect the extracted files.

Step 2: Copy the Unzipped MOGRT Folder to the Motion Graphics Templates Folder

In Windows, go to Local Drive (or any drive where Adobe “Common” folder is located) / Users / ‘Username’ / Appdata / Roaming / Adobe / Common / Motion Graphics Templates

In Mac, Username / Library / Application Support / Adobe / Common / Motion Graphics Templates

Then drag the unzipped Kidigital MOGRT Pack 1 folder onto the Motion Graphics Templates folder.

Step 3: Open Adobe Premiere Pro and Essential Graphics Panel

Kidigital MOGRT Pack 1 uses Adobe Typekit fonts. To activate them, open Adobe Premiere Pro thru the Adobe Creative Cloud program. Create a New Project and Sequence, then go to Window > Essential Graphics.

Step 4: Insert MOGRT onto the Timeline from the Essential Graphics Panel

The Essential Graphics Panel contains a library of motion graphics templates. You can choose any of them, and drag it onto the timeline. Press ‘spacebar’ to play.

Step 1: Open the Essential Graphics Panel

Switch to the ‘Graphics’ mode interface as the Essential Graphics panel automatically displays there, or go to Window > Essential Graphics.

Step 2: Open the MOGRT File from the ‘Install Motion Graphics Template’ Icon

Look for the little template icon ‘Install Motion Graphics Template’ on the bottom-right of the Essential Graphics panel. Locate your MOGRT folder, select from any of the .mogrt files, then click ‘Open’.

How to use MOGRTS in Adobe Premiere Pro CC?

The mogrt files in this pack come in 2 types: Regular and RD-T or Responsive Design for Time. The main difference is that with the Regular Type, intro/outro speed can be adjusted. In RD-T, the latter is fixed yet the animation can be shortened or extended with ease.

Step 1: Drag the MOGRT onto the Timeline

Drag and drop any motion graphics templates from the Essential Graphics panel onto the timeline.

Step 2: Select the Clip to Display its Corresponding Controls

To edit a clip, click it on the timeline. This will reveal its editing controls in the Essential Graphics panel. You may now change its texts, font style, size, color, tracking, and position however you want.
